When Casanova Deli opened in November of 1986, it boasted the only espresso and cappuccino machine in Makawao. In fact, there weren’t any espresso or cappuccino machines with in a ten mile radius. Equally as rare were hot made-to-order sandwiches and a good vegetarian lunch.   Since then the morning ritual for many Upcountry residents isn’t complete without a stop at Casanova Deli, whether it’s a quick stop for a coffee to go, or a leisurely breakfast on the porch overlooking the slow traffic moving thru town. Lunch at Casanova Deli is a social event over delicious hot sandwiches grilled to order on the Panini grill, freshly made pasta of the day, a thick, rich slice of pizza or a caprese salad with home made mozzarella cheese.

Lunch keeps going till closing time, around 5:30pm, but a wonderful dinner can be made of our large portions of homemade Lasagna or Eggplant Parmesan packaged to go, for a wonderful vegetarian dinner at home.
